From Boardroom to Breakthroughs: Ex-VP Guides New Leaders

Body

As an ex Senior Vice President, Steve Mendelsohn used his successful background to build and support a new generation of leaders.

Previously, he enjoyed a successful and rewarding career in executive general management that included leading business teams of as many as 1,200 people worldwide engaged, growing businesses with annual revenues in the millions. He led his teams with heart, transparency, and collaboration.

With the desire to support the next generation of leaders and bring positive and sustainable changes to people’s work and lives, Mendelsohn investigated the Rutgers Leadership Coaching for Organization Performance (LCOP) program to enhance his toolkit and coaching.

“Of all the programs I have evaluated as I prepared to launch Steve Mendelsohn 2.0, Rutgers was the best fit for my needs in terms of its focus on Organizational Performance. I was also drawn to the structure of the program in its the mix of independent and classroom work.”

LCOP allowed him to take his natural talents and learn the framework and tools that made him more effective and marketable. “LCOP showed me the power of coaching and the beauty of the experience of helping someone discover their own truth. I learned the excitement of seeing a struggling person have an important new insight.”

Since completing the program, Mendelsohn has given back to the LCOP community as one of the program’s reviewer coaches and started his own business that focuses on commitment to promoting a culture of trust, truth, accountability, and good humor.

For all new students, Mendelsohn’s advice is “Be ready for the undertaking to be a challenging one. Don't be surprised by the level of personal change you will experience. Trust the process.”

The LCOP program, delivered in partnership with Heidrick & Struggles, is built on the “learn by doing” maxim of adult education to deliver an ICF-approved Level 2 coaching program. It is taught with a practitioner's edge combined with learning the practical foundation of the ICF Core Competencies. Program instructors are professional coaches who weave real-time case studies into the classroom experience.
